Our home, the historic Union Temple House at 17 Eastern Parkway, was built in the 1920s as a visionary hub for Jewish life. Now, on the cusp of its 100th anniversary, we will reanimate all 80,000 square feet into a 21st-century cultural temple.

Set along Brooklyn’s great cultural corridor — across from the Brooklyn Museum, the Brooklyn Public Library, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and Prospect Park — Union House is more than just a venue.

Basic Judaism

This is an overview course in broad strokes about Jewish life, culture, belief, non-belief, and thought. Designed in a 20 week module, this course will attempt to give the participants a solid background to the ideas, practices, and expressions of Jewish life from ancient times to the present. Choose between Monday or Thursday evenings.

Union House Bet Midrash

FieldWork

In this dance workshop Hadar Ahuvia will share movement, breathing, and sounding and performance practices she has developed over the last four years of research of ashkenazi davenen (traditional modes of Eastern European prayer chant).

Jewish Music of the Middle East

Let's sing together! Join celebrated musicians Ira Klein and Elana Sasson for a joyful journey through the rich musical traditions of Middle-Eastern and North-African Jewish communities.
Each class will focus on learning and singing music from one tradition, exploring its unique history and musical heritage. No musical experience necessary!

Shabbat Pregame

Join us every Friday evening this fall for a l’chaim and a chance to schmooze and say goodbye to the week. Union House will serve as a pick up location for challahs from our friends at GERTIE.

Artistry of the Hebrew Letter

This five-week course will explore a carefully selected group of key Hebrew value concepts that give shape to Jewish ideas and practice as a way to uncover some of the mystery and majesty of the Hebrew letters. The class will be co-taught by a rabbi and an artist and include a mix of text study and creative expression.
